I began my career in healthcare because I wanted to serve the public and uplift my community. Sadly, I quickly saw the flaws in our system: healthcare providers unable to deliver life-saving care due to restrictive policies, and patients leaving hospitals prematurely because they feared drowning in endless medical debt.
Our healthcare system faces many challenges, but one bipartisan solution we can pursue is transitioning from a fee-for-service model to an outcome-based healthcare system. Currently, providers are incentivized to perform as many tests, procedures, and treatments as possible. This volume-driven approach drives up costs, reduces the quality of care, discourages preventative measures, and perpetuates our public healthcare crisis. By shifting to an outcome-based healthcare model where providers are rewarded for improving patient health, we can lower costs, improve care quality, shorten waiting times, and rebuild trust between patients and providers.
Healthcare costs are at an all-time high, and families are paying the price. Insurance premiums, prescription drugs, and basic medical visits have become increasingly unaffordable, making it harder for many to access affordable medical care.
I’m running to push for transparency in pricing, expand healthcare access to quality care, and ensure no one has to choose between their health and their financial stability.
